HOW TO CLEAR AND REINSTALL VIDEO DRIVERS. Sometimes corrupt Video Drivers can cause the System to hang or even throw an IOS Windows Protection Error. If you suspect the Video drivers are corrupt DON'T DELETE OR REMOVE THE DRIVER FROM DEVICE MGR, especially not in Normal Mode, Windows doesn't like that. To Clear the corrupt drivers out, go into Display settings in the Control Panel, go to the Settings tab, and Advanced Properties. Click Change, and change the Driver/Adapter to a) (Standard Display Types) and b) (Standard Display Adapter VGA) Then Restart the system and let the Standard VGA be installed. (There may be an error message about the Video driver not runnning.) Then Run the Setup program for the Video driver from the manufacturer CD or the Utility CD, or with a plain driver, just go back to Display Properties, Advanced, and Change, and Browse to tell the computer what drive and folder to look for the updated drivers in.
